Tennessee 811 Free Training Resource & Grant Opportunity

Tennessee 811 is sharing a new training resource addressing white lining and marking requirements for excavation in Tennessee.

The video, “White Lining Requirement for Excavators in Tennessee,” was produced by USIC through funding awarded as part of Tennessee’s Underground Damage Prevention Fund Grant Program. The grant program supports projects that promote public awareness, education, training, and safe excavation practices to help protect Tennessee’s underground utility infrastructure.

The video provides excavators, contractors, utilities, and other industry professionals with an overview of white lining and its role in the damage prevention process. It explains the purpose of identifying the proposed excavation area, how white lining helps utility locators understand the intended scope of work, and the requirements and exceptions associated with white lining in Tennessee.

The video can be incorporated into employee safety training, contractor education, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and other damage-prevention programs. Please feel free to share the video link with employees, contractors, subcontractors, members, and other industry partners. You are also welcome to share the link through your organization’s website, newsletters, email communications, and social media channels.
